BYOB is an initialism most commonly meant to stand for "bring your own bottle". BYOB may also be defined as "bring your own beer" or "bring your own booze". The term "booze" is slang for alcoholic drinks. Possibly for a more generic situation, it could be "bring your own beverage" or "bring your own bomb". It is also commonly used to mean "bring your own beef" at a barbecue. BYOB is often placed on an invitation to indicate that the host will not be providing alcohol and that guests are welcome to bring their own. It is also frequently used by regular bars, restaurants, or strip clubs which do not have licenses to serve liquor or alcoholic beverages in general; an alternate term for this is brownbagging.

"Gem on the Island" by pdharvey (1 review)
October 17, 2009 - Likes it - We just went to South Padre for the second time in two years for our vacation, and we discovered a gem on the Island. Wild Fork Restaurant is a wonderful improvement to the Island. We ate at the restaurant every time they were opened and we were not disappointed. Wild Fork has the best atmosphere and the most incredible food. The staff was awesome and the Chef took time to come out to greet their customers. That shows how much class this little gem has, and more business on the Island really needs to take lessons on how to treat their customers. If you want a great dinning experience with food that is out of this world go to the Wild Fork Restaurant.

(From September 2010)
Richard and Kristi Carney have broken through the fried-food wall of island cuisine and created a truly authentic Italian bistro. Immediately charmed with the laid-back atmosphere and simple but thoughtful menu, we snacked on a small plate of flavorful olives and homemade bread while we waited for our veal chop, which came perfectly grilled, with a bit of a smoky char, with roasted red potatoes and sautéed spinach. Keep an eye out for the nightly specials. BYOB ($5 corkage).

Some fine eating on South Padre Island
